Using a Number Extractor in Cross-browser Testing
A number extractor can be useful if you're doing cross-browser testing. For example, if you have created a web application that does accounting or calculates sums of numbers, then sometimes when copying and pasting numbers from documents, the copy operation drags text together with the numbers. To quickly get rid of all text and leave the numbers, you can use this program. If your web application has a free-form input, then you can write a unit test to make sure that after processing the form data only numbers remain. To create such unit test, you can load one or more strings, or a larger text piece as the input test case and copy the resulting numbers from this program as the resulting output. Additionally, this program can be used to extract zip codes from text, extract phone numbers from text, as well as any other numerical data.
